A more reflective style of Pinot Noir from the Sebastopol Hills, our inaugural release presents deep ruby in hue with fresh raspberry, mountain strawberry, and baking spices. On the palate, notes of blue fruits, sandstone, and vanilla caress the palate, framed by supple tannins and juicy acidity creating tension. This is a bright and focused wine with a long, elegant finish.

Winemaker’s Notes
Located in the far northwestern corner of the West Sonoma Coast, our remote estate in Annapolis delivers a wine that is vivid ruby in the glass with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, and a hint of anise. The palate is focused with well-integrated layers of blueberry, cranberry, and bergamot. A lifted acidity and silky texture add tension to the lingering finish, followed by hints of damp earth and red clay.

Winemaker’ Notes
Sourced from choice vine rows within the BV4 block of Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, this brooding, black-garnet beauty is a testament to the potential for power, breadth and sophistication afforded by this ideal terroir. 100% cabernet sauvignon, it boasts vivid varietal character beginning with enticing nose bursting with cassis, black currant and tobacco leaf. Tasting Notes (Vinous)
Saturated full ruby. Bright aromas of cassis, black cherry, menthol and mocha are complicated by subtle soil and spice tones. Wonderfully plush, seamless wine with terrific inner-mouth energy, clarity and peppery grip to its flavors of dark fruits, minerals, flowers and spices. The gripping tannins still need time to be absorbed. This highly complex, very long wine is quite claret-like in its refined grain, density without weight, savory character and finishing lift. Paul Hobbs told me that 2010 is not a growing season that he remembers fondly, noting 'the wrestle we had to do with the grapes due to lots of cool weather.' This was his only vintage of To Kalon that did not need any acidification, but he added that both the 2000 and 1999 vintages required very little. He describes this wine as Barishnikov-like, while the '09, a wine that he also calls one of his favorite vintages, is a bit chunkier, 'like a linebacker.'

Winemaker’s Notes
Sourced from favored rows within the acclaimed C2 block of Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, this elegant wine exudes class and refinement with aromas of black currant, blackberry, boysenberry, red cherry, forest floor, cedar, tobacco, Oolong tea, vanilla and pie crust. The mouthfeel is broad and complex with mature, fine tannins and vibrant acidity providing a frame for the cascading red and black fruits that persist through the very long finish.
92 points Wine Advocate
Paul Hobbs has exploited the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard as well as anybody (with the possible exception of the Schraders), and his 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is more narrowly framed than usual, but it remains a powerful, impressive 2011. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by copious aromas of cassis, licorice, Christmas fruitcake, earth and spice. With the finest texture and sweetness of all the 2011 Hobbs cuvees, it is expansive, rich and surprisingly strong as well as long.

The dense palate offers lavish flavors of black currants, Herbs De Provence, cigar box and baker's cocoa. Chewy tannins lead to a captivating finish with hints of iodine and spice.
